04.11.2013 “Humans Eating Badly Edition”

“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”Samuel Beckett

. . . .

Okay, since I failed to provide an adequate food journal entry for yesterday, let’s just do a quick recap of what happened…

I ATE BADLY!!!

How ’bout them bananas?

I was a bit depressed that, despite what I was doing in a month’s time, by eating 6 smaller meals a day. By eating more fruits and vegetables, and emphasizing the quality over quantity… my blood pressure didn’t change all that much. Well, each diastolic and systolic reading went don’t about 10 points, yet my doctor seemed unimpressed, which made me greatly depressed considering what I’d been doing.

Problem 1: I know that more cardio will help lower blood pressure. But, I’ve been having problems with my right knee lately. It’s getting better gradually, and I just might start walking and hiking soon, but…

Problem 2: After having failed to significantly bring blood pressure readings down, I have to take a double dose of what meds I’m on now, so…

Solution: Continue what I’ve been doing, eat a mostly plant-based diet and avoiding or severely limiting grains and eating more vegetables and fruits.

I may have not succeeded now, but I think I made progress. And I now have 3 months until my next visit to the doctor. Can I make progress? I am going to try very hard.
