The above quote by Stephen King was really directed towards writing, but I’m sure it can apply to any goal one might have.

Gwyneth Paltrow has an interesting post on her site regarding habits. I agree that habits are pretty powerful; and we are definitely creatures of habit. And it’s these habits that can make or break us. By breaking us I mean the not-so-good habits that can negatively affect us health-wise, whether it’s the habit of smoking, abusing alcohol, or making the wrong food choices. Whereas habits that can “make us” are those that take us in a more positive direction to empower us and heal us.


This food journal is somewhat of an enforcer, as it exists to publicly acknowledge what I am eating. I don’t really know who is actually reading my daily food journals, but it’s a way for me to keep me on track towards my goals of maintaining as healthy a diet as I can.

And at the same time, perhaps I will share what works and what doesn’t. If I’ve fallen off track then I’ll know, because when I get my blood test results again a few months from now, it definitely won’t lie. The truth will be in the blood test.

What’s important now is to start taking my blood pressure daily and recording it somehow, somewhere; and perhaps I should start to record it here. But, I’ll have to think a little bit on how to do it, whether to include it with each daily food journal or include it on another page.


But the main thing is to stay focused on the goals. It’s all about survival, and whether I care enough to make the right changes.

Oatmeal ~ 1/2 oats, 1/2 water, with blueberries, strawberries and a little raw sugar
Coffee ~ 1/2 cup, decaf



Lunch – 1pm

Nigiri Sushi ~ yellowtail, ebi (shrimp), salmon
California Roll ~ 1 piece
Broccoli ~ steamed, 4 florets
Asian Pear ~ 1/4, sliced
Miso Soup ~ 1 cup
Green Tea ~ Premium “Stash”

Afternoon Tea – 3:30pm

California Roll ~ 5 pieces
Nigiri Sushi ~ 1 piece, yellowtail
Ramen ~ 1/2, with broccoli
Chamomile Tea ~ 1 cup

Dinner – 7pm

Teriyaki Chicken ~ 2 pieces, small
Broccoli ~ steamed, 6 pieces, medium florets
Asian Pear ~ 1/4, sliced
Guava ~ 1, small, sliced
Miso Soup ~ 1 cup
Green Tea ~ 1 cup

Late Evening

Cake ~ Chocolate Decadence, 1/2 slice
Water ~ 1 cup, with ice
