05.01.2013 “First of the Month” Edition

So, yesterday’s entry was pretty much all-over-the-place because I was out-of-town and traveling on the road (a lot). I don’t want to go into any details to protect the innocent, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

Needless to say, in a guest-hostess relationship the guest has to accept graciously whatever food is offered. It’s one of those things that will come up when someone is on a particular restrictive diet and offered foods outside their normal mode of eating.

I learned that the Dalai Lama tries to be vegetarian as much as possible, for instance, but he will accept meat if it’s offered to him… something about not wanting to offend the host or hostess. Very interesting, and not all Tibetan Buddhists are vegans or vegetarians. In their country agriculture is scarce due to the terrain, and sometimes meat is necessary for survival.

Anyway, I used to be a strict raw vegan/vegetarian but have since been less restrictive because of the above scenario.
