So, yesterday I talked a little about why I haven’t been doing a regular fitness update. And I also talked in-depth about the steps needed to get to a gig, set up, perform for 4 hours, then pack everything up and go home. When you really think about it, one whole gig is in fact a long workout that can span 4-6 hours!
Anyway, I was also lamenting about my right knee, and how it’s been acting up for the past month; pretty much all of April. I was wearing a knee brace at times. But, in the past few days, my knee has been feeling a whole lot better. What’s weird is that it hasn’t really affected my drumming ability. It’s just been a pain to walk and hiking and jogging are out of the question.
So, today I’m happy to report that I actually did 1 hour of yoga!
I’m not going to say it was effortless, but I did have the energy. But for me it all comes down to flexibility, and being a drummer for many years without stretching enough, well I can see how that has affected how flexible I am.
But toward the latter half of the yoga routine I became “adequately” flexible!
So. Great yoga routine. I felt more enlightened and at peace. Will do it again.
