The Two Week Mark
It’s a quiet, peaceful Sunday today. I woke up at 7am and I ended up playing piano until 10am. It was a very long piano improvisation that covered Spanish motifs, Stride and Ragtime playing, Jazz, New Age-y and Modern Classical styles. From very soft to very loud. My emphasis this morning was to have fun. But I also practice a Mozart Sonata, a simple one.
I’ve been on a 100% Raw Vegan diet for 2 weeks now! Though, except for feeling what seemed like detox symptoms during the first few days (i.e. irritability, loss of energy, aches and pains), the rest of the 2 weeks has been good.
It Can Be a Psychological Dilemma
No major cravings for any “bad” foods so far. Though I sometimes think about getting some cooked vegan dishes like vegetarian thai curry and white rice. But, I don’t crave them in a bad way.
I think the potential problems for me is in social gatherings. And, during Thanksgiving it’ll be psychologically hard. People may ask the usual questions…
Are you getting enough protein?
Don’t you feel weak on the raw food diet?
Or remarks like… “You might get too skinny”
RAW and Living For The Moment
But the important thing is how I’m feeling within the moment, in the here and now. And, I have noticed that when I wasn’t 100% Raw I was more moody, had wilder swings between feeling very energetic and feeling sluggish. Being 100% Raw so far, I’m feeling more consistency as far as my energy level goes, and I feel I’m running on a higher level of energy without the “crash” that I expect if I am on coffee and espresso beans.
Today for brunch I had a large salad consisting of the following foods:
Broccoli, Lettuce, Spinach, Radicchio, Arugula, Frisee, Chard, Tomatoes, Endive, Mushrooms, Blueberries, with Creamy Garlic Dressing.
A Bunch of Grapes
I’m going to try and limit my intake of Raw Cacao, as Debbie suggests it’s a very powerful food, and it does contain caffeine. But I’m doing well in my focus to eat large salads, which provides lots of nutrients, water, fiber, etc.
Liquefied Sunshine Happiness
I’ve also been researching all about Photosynthesis. I’m very interested on the subject naturally because of my Raw Journey, but coincidentally, I helped my college son with his essay and the subject was on Photosynthesis and how plants convert light energy into chemical energy… photosynthesis… or, creating that “liquefied sunshine”!
Taking It Easy
Anyway, it’s such a peaceful Sunday here, and the sun popped out a little while ago. I’m going to take it easy today. It’ll be a day of rest.
