100% Raw – Day 5

At The Yokohama Friendship Bell - 2A Journey Toward Re-Discovery

This morning I woke up with the usual grogginess at around 6:30am. I’m a “night person”, something I’ve always been, and most likely a result of being a musician AND having burned-the-midnight-oil on PHP programming projects through the years. So, taking my son and my nephew to school in the morning was typical… me, not being fully awake yet.

Feeling The Energy

But, once I got back home I felt very energetic. And this feeling of energy was something quite different from days when I depended on a morning cup of coffee to get me going. I think this is worth noting, because this energetic-feeling is like a new state of mind, feeling quite alert to my surroundings yet not hyper from a coffee-induced surge.

Now I’m wondering, is this new-found clarity just my imagination? Or, is it due to having been 100% raw for the past 5 days? See, I’ve been basically 75% raw (maybe realistically speaking, 60% raw) vegan, but I think I’m finally feeling the natural energy of being 100% raw. And, it feels quite good.

Still A Little Back Soreness

With one exception, and I can’t quite figure this out. I still have some slight back pain and soreness. But, it is definitely not as severe as a couple of days ago. So, I definitely am feeling some improvement there, though why I would have such back pain after starting a 100% raw vegan diet is beyond me. Perhaps it’s a detox symptom?

But I confess I haven’t done a yoga routine in a while. I need to start again on a daily basis.

So, this morning for breakfast I had a tall smoothie consisting of 1 banana, some blackberries, 1/2 cup of orange juice, with a few ice cubes. Awesome! And I ate a small salad of fresh lettuce, mushrooms, avocado and sprouts with coconut curry dressing. The salad for breakfast is a bit odd, but I can’t make any raw pancakes just yet.

It’s time to get to the supermarket and buy a few ingredients!

where’s the back pain situated, carlos? (depending on the internal organ it’s close to, there may be a diet related remedy…). as a generic cure, keep it warm, maybe? : /

tokyorose: it could be the case, going from 60% to 75% raw vegan to 100% raw. my body is going through a shock because of the change? but reading about detox symptoms when one goes on a cleaner diet of mostly raw organic produce, perhaps back aches are part of that?

i still need to do more research. other than that i do feel i have more energy, and i have a gig tonight with flamenco nova. so, we’ll see how i do with drumming.

    wish me luck… ;o)

First let me say, Congratulations on Day 5! And secondly, I don’t think it’s your imagination at all. I was trying to describe to someone recently what this amazing clarity feels like and the only thing I could come up with that they might relate to — it’s like I had been walking around under the constant influence of alcohol and then suddenly becoming alcohol-free. The thing is, I had already been sober for 18 years before I went raw!

Keep going and you’ll start noticing even more wonderful changes in your physical, mental and emotional health and well-being.
