remnants from the past
March 1st, 2005
I’ve been staring at this bass drum head and reminiscing of the old glory days with Big Time Operator. Nowadays it’s a totally different band and they don’t play anywhere near as much as we used to do in the late 1990’s.
It was definitely a learning experience and I think I came away a better person. It definitely makes one think that our past experiences are something we can’t entirely forget or put behind us. We just have to work out our karma the best we can and learn from it.
It’s sometimes sad how entertainers, musicians and so on may have their good luck and fortune, then watch it slip away. It makes me appreciate those who’ve truly made legends of their lives… the greats like Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong, and those contemporary artists such as Sting who’ve lasted so long in the spotlight.
I realize that there are so many talented people out there, that there is a great margin of luck that you might become recognized for your talents.
For musicians like myself… we continue to do it for a love for the music, and whether it be a gig in a small cafe tucked away in smallville, USA… or performing in a large concert venue, the important thing is to do it for the love of it, and spreading that love to others.
