programming my_rbj

March 31st, 2005

I worked pretty much until 3am last night working out a couple of different problems with the “my RBJ” page on Rice Bowl Journals. And what I came up with was something similar to what can be found on Friendster and Flickr. Well, something found in quite a few online communities nowadays, so I am just trying to keep RBJ up-to-date.

Basically, you can view your “friends” (people who you are “mutually linked to” on RBJ) and “admirers” (people who’ve linked to you but you haven’t linked to them… yet). So, below is the page when the groups are in condensed mode:

myRBJ-1

And here is what it looks like when you expand one of the groups, in this case the “friends” group:

myRBJ-2

One other option I need to code next is to be able to “expand” all groups, being that the code currently allows only one group expanded at a time. It’s always good to give the user more options. Actually, the possible options are endless, but we take it one at a time.
