invasion

April 4, 2005 by randomguru

I dreamt last night (which has been a rare occurence as of late), and the whole theme was about an impending alien invasion.

In the dream, my entire family clan and in-laws were all grouped together. Everyone was preparing for the oncoming invasion. People had already abandoned their jobs, their day-to-day mundane activities, and sought comfort with their families and sought refuge in their homes. In the end, what could one do, really?

I remember I was traveling on a highway, forests on either side at a distance, and green meadows creating a large open area. Fighter jets came up behind us and we had to turn around because of the noise. They flew too low, making me realize this wasn’t just some sort of exercise.

At one point we were all in this neighborhood that I didn’t recognize. People were out in the streets. We could see bombs bursting in the distance, and more fighter jets zooming by fast. Someone gave word that they were coming!

Not really knowing exactly what was coming was truly frightening. And I began to imagine family members being separated from one another, anticipating being taken prisoner, killed or tortured… possibly being experimented on.

All in all, the whole feeling of the dream was one of impending doom. And I never got the chance to actually see these invading aliens in my dream, but the idea of never really seeing them made the dream more frightening and realistic.

People all around me were getting prepared for the worst, and then I suddenly woke up, as if not wanting to actually see what would happen. In a way, protecting me from those final moments, perhaps for the best.

dreams can be one of the scariest things ever… more scary than any movie or book. usually when i have a dream of that nature i see it as a sign… maybe i need to spend more time with the family… extended ones included. don’t let those dreams get to you too much carlos :)

i always thought dreams were an extension or altered mind-state that kind of projected your inner-most thoughts, the kind perhaps that you don’t like talking about much less thinking about while awake … you dream sounds like there are things that you worry about not being able to control that type of thing … and also sounds like “War of the Worlds” :P

dreams are weird … definitely :)

I don’t have many dreams. My room-mate had a dream where I was getting married. I thought that was strange.
