delirious

April 22nd, 2005

while being sick this week, i’ve been feeling rather delirious at times, and came up with the two poems below. one… frivolous, cotton-candy fluff, and the other… based on an actual experience when i was 18, of witnessing one black man shatter a gallon-sized wine jug over the head of another black man. i witnessed this while drumming at the park with “puerto rican” percussionists. it was truly a horrific experience.

last night’s gig went well, considering i’ve been sick. yesterday morning i took a hot bath and then did yoga, then repeated the same thing before heading off to my jazz gig. it really helped! and i played with a jazz quartet (sax, piano, bass, drums) by the pool at some upscale condominium complex in del mar. it was a bit cold but i had my jacket, and tried to hide my coughing the best i could.

oh no you’re sick? carlos! drink plenty of water, tea with lemon and gargle your mouth with hot salt water. (it’ll kill germs) make sure you drink and eat lots of soup. flush those bad germs out of your body! if you were closer i’d make you homemade chicken soup!

well, i’m glad you’re feeling well enough to go out and perform… sheesh, how sick can you be?!? :D Just kidding.

About Babel fish, that’s pretty bad too, but i will comment on it later after i compoare the two. Will let you know.

Anyway, I realize that this is WAY too late, but I just recently noticed the birthday wish you posted LAST DECEMBER, and I wanted to thank you. I’m so lame, but I figure it’s better late than never.

      So Thanks a Bunch!
