it seems to me like its very similar to real life, in that some people may link to be polite (say hi to be polite), but those who link and communicate on a regular basis are more the kind of people in real life that you might be more apt to go to lunch with ... that kind of thing ... does that make sense?

well, what hurts is when you still try to contact people, but they simply ignore you.

that's usually an obvious, not so subtle hint to move on... :(

Carlos, I've sort of given up listing all of my daily reads now, there's just too many of them.

I just subscribe to them all if they have an RSS feed on bloglines.com and leave it at that. I know I should link them in someway, but I got a little "lazy".

You can see the public list of blogs that I read here: http://www.bloglines.com/blog/willl

Though there are a few blogs I still will visit even if i'm subscribed to them via RSS. (Just not that many anymore).

I have more online acquaintences than I do friends. It is a big network of individuals, most of whom I made contact with via RBJ. I would say RBJ and the contacts made via RBJ are definately great ones. Online friends come and go, and come back sometimes. Some move onto other things in life which mean they spend less time online.

hey Carlos, I also interact a lot more with some OL friends over RL family/acquaintences. Got the feeling we're on the threshold of a "brave new world" where meaningful interaction can follow the spread of information.. i.e., be at one's fingertips, despite/regardless of limitations :]
