san diego sunshine

For those of you living in San Diego… hasn’t it been beautiful and sunny here lately? It’s been almost perfect weather it seems. The blue skies above almost cloudless… sunshine and warmth that is definitely summer-y, but not terribly hot nor humid. nice summer breezes coming from the beaches!

Anyway, I’m having no problem moving to a stricter raw foods vegan diet. It seems radical, I know, but there’s still a variety of foods for me to eat.

The rule is simply to eat foods in their “raw” state, uncooked. It sort of goes against the grain so-to-speak, because most of us are used to cooked meals. But it makes logical sense. The enzymes, nutrients, chlorophyl are more readily available in raw plant foods. Cooking destroys a lot of that.

I’m discovering a lot of fruits and vegetables I haven’t eaten in a long, long time… like, apricots, blueberries and cherries (especially the yellow-red cherries that cost $6 a lb… yikes!).

I’ve been studying many raw foods and vegan websites lately, just gathering information and doing my research. I bought a book called Eating for Beauty, a raw foods vegan book that’s really deeper than its title suggests. And the book emphasizes a more natural alternative to acquiring inner/outer beauty in one’s life through the use of eating strictly raw foods, as opposed to all the unnatural, artificial methods people use to become beautiful, like plastic surgery, liposuction, etc.

Anyways, beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder, so I’ll leave it at that…
