going up to heaven

October 14th, 2005

Poverty is the worst form of violence.
Mahatma Gandhi

A few weeks ago, Jim Weiss (a fellow musician and saxophonist) and I carpooled to our gig in Palm Springs. And as we pulled into Frank Sinatra Drive and proceeded up the winding road to the resort hotel, on a beautiful sunny afternoon, listening to lush strings on a local radio station, with beautiful foliage on either side, and a beautiful cascading waterfall, as we made the drive up the winding road, Jim asked, “are we going to heaven?”

And we both laughed… and I said, “Yes, we’re going to heaven!”
