bistro 221

Earlier tonight was my solo piano gig at Bistro 221. Unfortunately, the Rose Bowl game happened to be on the same night!

So, there was this group of middle-aged men who sat at the table next to my piano, but instead of listening to my music they wanted to watch the game while they dined. Obviously, I wasn’t needed and I told Chef Kent to just crank up the TV so they could watch. Then I told Kent I’ll just take off early, leave everything set up, and just come back tomorrow and try again.

On the way home I finally got a chance to drop by Jimbo’s in Escondido, as recommended by my vegan friend, Tiffany, the bartendar at The Bistro. Cool!

Anyway, I also found out that Bistro 221 will be closed from January 10th to January 19th for renovation, so I have some cancelled gigs and need to update my schedule. I’m a bit bummed out about this, but what can you do?

Fortunately, I found out I have a new gig next Thursday at the Bernardo Heights Country Club! And this could become a regular Thursday night spot. Here’s to hoping…

So, this week… tomorrow again at Bistro 221, the usual Friday gig at Bistro 221, a private party somewhere in Encanto (the ghetto?)… and a contrasting ritzy private party at Fairbanks Ranch Country Club on Sunday.

January is turning out to be a busy month, when traditionally it’s very slow for musicians.
