When Harry Met Sally

harrysallyI’ve been watching a ton of movies lately… both in the theater and on DVD.

Last night I watched When Harry Met Sally, one of my all-time favorite romantic comedies.

The main issue that is really a concern in everyday life is… Can a man and a woman be just friends without letting sex and/or romance get in the way? Of course, if sex or romance gets in the way it can ruin the friendship.

To me I think it IS possible. But in my own experience I’ve not seen this happen. Can I be a happily married man and still be able to have a female friend on a purely platonic level? Well, I do actually have female friends online… matter of fact, I seem to get along much better with female online friends, and can relate to them, compared to the guys. Perhaps it’s because I’m more “metro-sexual”? Being that I love “chick flicks” and avoid watching sports? Who knows…

But this is a big dilemma… can it be possible for a guy to have female friends and not let romance or physical attraction get in the way? Hmm… what are your thoughts?

I have tons of male friends I feel no attraction for. But you’re asking this question from a guy’s perspective, right? Well, none of my guy friends has ever hit on me or flirted with me in a way that made me feel like their feelings for me went beyond the platonic. So I think it’s very possible. I think maybe you always wonder “what if” but it’s one of those feelings that stay in the back of my mind and adds a bit of spark to a friendship. Now that I’m happily committed I don’t even feel that “what if” anymore. My boy friends are just that–my friends. Nothing more.
