what is buddhism?

January 11th, 2006

I have found that the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being.
The Dalai Lama

In a need to go back to the basis for my ongoing interest in Buddhism, I’ve come across quite a few online definitions that explain this religion and philosophy:

A Simple Defintion by Friends of the Western Buddhist Order :: Wikipedia’s definition :: An Overview of Buddhism :: A Five Minute Introduction found on Buddha.net :: Here’s one from religioustolerance.org :: And last but not least, a Buddha Intro from someone’s personal site.

I was looking around for links awhile ago when a friend said he was interested in learning more about Buddhism.

Here’s one that I found that I found useful: http://www.pureland-victoria.org/cos/o.x?c=/pureland/section&p=home/Buddhism/&n=Newcomers

There’s a lot there, as well as in the Buddhism area on the same website. Also see the “Take a Break” section.
