Solo Piano Gig at Jack’s in La Jolla
January 24th, 2006Barry Cohen asked me to play piano tonight at Jack’s in La Jolla from 6pm to 10pm. Wish me luck, folks… Either way, it’s always a blessing to be playing piano.
Update … The gig went well! Jack’s is a very classy, elegant restaurant.

I performed in the wine bar lounge, and I was surprised that Jack’s is a pretty large open venue (3 levels I think). They had a digital grand piano that was connected to the restaraunt’s speaker system, so my piano playing was piped in throughout the entire restaurant. Kinda scary. Barry was there and said I was playing very well. And the wine bar lounge got pretty crowded for a while.
In a way, I was a bit nervous at the beginning because I hadn’t played in such a nice restaurant before. I was surprised that one of the bartendars came up and said he recognized a couple of Keith Jarrett tunes! And he requested more and wanted me to play the ones I played already. Afterward he gave me some good feedback that he enjoyed my playing and that I was doing fine. We’ll see what happens for the future…. hope to play there again soon! And it might be next Tuesday! *keeping fingers crossed*

Pat: Tio Leo’s is the best place to see me do Sing Sing Sing with the big band, but we won’t be back there until May. i’ll let you know when there’s an earlier date. thanks, man!
Zaya: thanks for the moral support. the gig went very well. and the restaurant where i performed last night is very classy and elegant. it looks like i might be there every tuesday… *cross fingers*
