the u.s.s. midway

I have another corporate event gig on the top deck of the U.S.S. Aircraft Carrier Midway, which is now a museum permanently docked in San Diego harbor, and also functions as a venue for Corporate Events, etc…

The good news. Gigs here are usually pretty exciting with lots of people. The bad news. It is one of the most frustrating venues for loading musical instruments and equipment. Basically there is one huge elevator that loads things from the lower inside deck to the upper flight deck. And they have to forklift everything up to the lower deck first.

But I am told that there’s now an elevator that goes directly to the top deck. I hope that’s true.

This weekend has been probably my busiest so far this year as far as gigs go. Had a gig on Friday which I had to cancel because I was out-of-town attending my niece’s graduation, and I had two gigs on Saturday, one yesterday, and the midway gig tonight.
It’s been a long, HOT weekend, and my arms and legs are pretty sore from drumming. Even the yoga hasn’t helped, and definitely the additional running hasn’t helped either.

I’m going to have to find a better way to do yoga, running, swimming and drumming and finding a balance so I don’t get so tired and sore. I’m very tempted to go running today. Perhaps I’ll just do the yoga instead.

Sounds like an interesting gig. I’ve always admired drummers because it looks so exhausting. I don’t think I would be able to last even one song! Take care, especially in the hot summer.

Sammystorm: yes, that gig was very interesting. though a lot of unnecessary pressure to “perform” really well…

yeah, i am totally drained and sore from doing 4 pretty demanding gigs in 3 days. *whew*
