Free Tibet!

July 6, 2006 by randomguru

Today, I ordered a button that says, “Free Tibet!”

I recently watched a DVD about Tibet and its people…

free tibet

I was devasted and heartbroken at the atrocities, “ethnic cleansing” and torture that continue to happen to the Tibetan people to this day. The DVD showed actual beatings of many Tibetans, including buddhist monks and nuns.

The reason why Tibet continues to be ignored is because of its distance from western society, and the fact that the Tibetan people are devout Buddhists. It seems too many people simply turn their heads away from what’s going on simply because of the distance of Tibet or because Tibetans are not Christian.

But, the fact remains that each and every human being on this planet deserves the right to freedom and dignity, and the right to worship and express their own personal beliefs. These priveleges and rights have been continually taken away from the Tibetan people. For instance, it is a crime in Chinese occupied Tibet to fly the Tibetan flag!

And major movement of Chinese people are settling in Tibet and imposing Communism and Chinese culture to the point that the Tibetans are being wiped out, treated as second class citizens, and Tibetan monks are being tortured with cattle prods and other guesome methods.

Tibetans are NOT Chinese. Their language and culture is totally different from the Chinese, even though the Chinese claim there is a connection between the two lands.

I’m sure you and I have known about the plight of the Tibetan people. This has been going on for decades. And the Dalai Lama and Tibetan government have been living in exile in Dharamsala, India, ever since the Dalai Lama was forced to flee Tibet.

But I just wanted to make it clear that the plight of the Tibetan people is ongoing… the atrocities and torture are happening now, and the Communist Chinese aim to wipe out Tibetan culture and its history. People need to know what’s happening….

Please visit freetibet.org to find out more about what’s happening in Tibet and the ways in which you can help.

*sighs* It’s really a shame about Tibet… my heart does go out to them… I do hope they get their freedome soon.

    And I never thought about how the Tibetans may be ignored because they are Buddhist and not Christians… interesting… yet sad. x_x;;

yes, it is a shame about the situation in Tibet. of course the other shameful thing is the situation in Iraq. but the situation in Tibet has been going on for decades and most everyone is turning the other way for some reason.

hopefully, Tibetans will get their country back soon, and the Dalai Lama and Tibetan government won’t have to live in exile.

It’s horrible what they continue doing to the Tibetan people and their country. And it’s horrible what they continue doing to there own citizens. I feel the Chinese Government is driven by fear, they censor information, they imprison those who seek free speech relating to political matters, they’ll do whatever they can to control the people. Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 and the massacre that occurred there, is evident how far they will go to oppress the people, their own or of a neighboring country.

The Tibetan people have been suffering for so long . . . And with so many things going on in the world, with most of the attention still being on the war in Iraq and the genocide in Darfur, it continues to be difficult for Tibet to gain media awareness. And many times it just seems that such terrible suffering in these places will not remain in the eyes of the rest of the world. . .at times it just seem almost hopeless because so many horrible things continue to happen around the world. But I admire that you found the energy and the time to remind the world that Tibet still struggles for freedom. I admire your compassion.

Tibet still has hope if people like yourself continue in such a way.

Thanks for sharing the link to free Tibet in your entry.

thank you, Carlos, for writing about this and sharing the link. thank you for speaking up for freedom, dignity, and human rights.

through my recent community involvement, I’ve gotten to know this group called “Friends of Tibet”. my heart goes out to Tibetans and i am in complete support for their pursue on freedom from the communist Chiense government. nothing against Chinese citizens, but their government needs to start learning about democracy, respect for human rights, and lots of other basic governing tools.

    thanks again Carlos.

i honestly feel that the Chinese people are essentially good people. it’s the Chinese government that is the problem as far as “human rights” issues are concerned.

Americans are essentially good people, but sometimes our U.S. Government has done things I do not agree with.

but, as proven in China, whenever your people protest the Chinese government is there to stamp out the demonstrations in a vicious and cruel way. i still remember the Tiananmen Square Massacre?

the same thing is happening right now in Tibet. the Chinese military is viciously silencing the protests. and spreading propaganda throughout the internet to confuse everyone.

human rights is the ability to express yourself without fear of being killed, silenced, or censored. your people are brainwashed to think differently.
