chocolate banana shake

July 18th, 2006

Here’s another “vegan” recipe for those hot summer days. This has been my favorite so far. Feel free to adjust ingredients to your own personal taste buds. Enjoy.

INGREDIENTS:

4 ice cubes *
1 cup frozen bananas (cut into pieces before freezing)
1 cup “very vanilla” soy milk (silk brand)
1 heaping tablespoon of trader joe’s organic cocoa powder
1 pinch of sea salt
1/4 cup trader joe’s organic maple syrup

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Makes 2 servings.

* I use a few ice cubes to get a more “frappe” texture, but you can skip the ice cubes if you wish.

this sounds very good. we just got a new blender too! i think i have a project for friday :)
how does the maple syrup make it taste? it seems like a weird ingredient to put in a chocolate banana shake

Denise: the maple syrup is excellent as an alternate to honey or sugar. :)

I even used the “dark amber” kind, so you could use a lighter variety.
