damien rice concert: tomorrow!

So, anybody remember a while back when I was trying to get tickets for the Damien Rice concert here in San Diego, and it looked like they had sold out?

Anyway, Damien Rice will be performing tomorrow at San Diego State open air amphitheater! So they moved the concert from the Spreckels Theater downtown to San Diego State. And I was able to score two tickets for the concert.

This is my anniversary gift to my wife, since she’s a big Damien Rice fan. This is our 27th wedding anniversary, actual date: April 26th.

rare double-header

So, yesterday was the first double-header (two gigs in one day) I’d done in a long, long time.

The first gig was with the Big Daddy Orchestra and the second gig was with Jordano, the flamenco guitarist.

This first gig was a wedding reception in Hungtington Beach at the Hyatt Regency… a wedding reception that turned out really well, and the band played exceptionally well too. But I had to wake up at 6:30am on a Saturday, did my yoga routine, and had to be at the Hyatt Regency by 10am to load in and do sound check.

We played from 11:45am to 4pm.

Then I had to pack up my things, load them back into the van and drive down to Encinitas/Leucadia to perform at Le Papagayo from 7:30pm to 10:30pm.

It was a long day for me. And I was feeling it by the last set of the 2nd gig.

But, I am resting up now. It’s Sunday afternoon.

interview update…

Just an update to the 3 interviews I had earlier this week, since it’s been on my mind.

Basically, I didn’t get any of the 3 jobs I interviewed for.

Then again, I think the last time I was interviewed for a job (prior to this week) was 15 years ago.

Still, I know I should keep my hopes up, but at the same time I’m beginning to wonder just how good I am as a programmer and web developer. And right now I don’t think I’m all that great.

I most definitely have the passion and the drive, but perhaps I’m just not smart enough. And it “hurts” to be rejected…

I guess I should stick to music…

jury duty, again…

I can’t believe it. I’ve been selected for Jury Duty once again! It seemed like last year when I served on a court trial (which lasted a week). But it was actually back in November 2005. My how time flies.

Anyway, I don’t really like the stress of being in the courtroom. And I hope I’m not called again to serve as a juror. I’ve got a lot going on in the next few months. But if it comes down to doing my civic duty, then so be it.
