my son’s official last day today…

June 14th, 2007

JK!004&5 085Not for me, but for my oldest son. He just left a phone message saying that his last day of high school was today!

And, what’s completed now is a journey that had started way back when I first took my son to pre-school, when he still wore the little “training pants”.

And now he’s a high school graduate. Amazing how fast this all happened. So, graduation ceremony will be next Tuesday, and he’ll start his first semester at UC Riverside next fall.

I can still flashback to the moment my son was born. I was a bit shell-shocked. I don’t remember crying like other Dads did, but I remember coming home by myself, with Mom and baby still at the hospital, and right after I went through the front door, the next moment I remembered was waking up on the floor in the living…. 5 hours later!!!

CameronI had literally crashed out on the carpet in front of the front door!!! That had to have been one of the most bizarre moments of my life.

And now, the little one is graduating….

Amazing, this miracle of life, when viewed from the perspective of a father who’s watched his own son grow up.

And now he’s college bound…

I tell ya… every single day is a learning experience. As a Dad I’m just a regular guy like the next. I wouldn’t call myself the ideal, perfect Dad.

But, I’m really proud of my son for all the hard work he’s put in, graduating from high school and getting accepted to a very good university.

Way to go, son…

Well, she has finished the online course, has completed the behind the wheel training ($$), has her learner’s permit and will take the license test (driving and written) next week, Lord save us…
