not much of an online person lately….
September 6th, 2007Well, I confess I haven’t been much of an online person lately.
In the past weekend it was really, REALLY busy for me. Four gigs in three days during weather that was in the 90s and 100s with lots of humidity… well, it sort of wears one down and I feel I’ve been trying to recoup from this past weekend since.
Lately, for those interested…
I’ve been playing lots of chess lately. And I guess you could say that I’ve been rather obsessed with it. I’m not a grandmaster or anything like that, but I do enjoy the game and thank God for Chessmaster on the computer. I can challenge various virtual players and Jones-ey is my favorite and most compatible opponent.
At one point, Chessmaster rated me at around 1200 but then I started losing several games in a row because I guess I must’ve been mentally tired and lost my focus. So, right now I’m struggling to maintain around 950. But anyways, I’ve been playing lots of Chess and reading up on Chess tactics and strategies from online and from books I borrowed from the public library.
Also, I’ve been sort of a movie buff lately, so I’ve been watching a lot of my favorites. I recently watched LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers again. And I just need to watch The Return of the King and I’ve watched the entire trilogy yet again.
I’ve been working out with weights (free weights). And walking. Still trying to get in really good shape before my big birthday! And just going back to basics like pushups, situps, crunches, squats.
My drumming has improved with the added weight training. No big weights. I’m not interested in bulking up. But would simply like a more leaner body with more definition.
Recently, I watched Desperado again on DVD. Great Robert Rodriguez movie with Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek.
I’ve been working on my coin collection again. I have a lot of coins that I need to sort through. No rare coins worth thousands or millions. I wish. But I do have a lot of U.S. coins and some world coins from other countries. I just need to organize everything better. I may need to buy more coin books to add duplicates to… and perhaps sell them on eBay.
So, I’ve been doing a lot of things during my leisure time in RL and just haven’t had much time spent online.
And I have a lot of gigs this month for some reason. Five weddings, and several club and restaurant gigs. And the Friday gig at Fairbanks Ranch Country Club is fortunately still going strong (knock on wood). Hope the gigs continue to roll through into the new year. And I’ll definitely need to save for the leaner months to come.
And that’s pretty much what’s been going on with me…… how ’bout you?

and don’t you find it’s kind of a relief to be offline for a while? it sounds like you have a lot of interesting hobbies…

Collecting coins? Do you have one from Bhutan? perhaps i can send you some..:-))
Perhaps I should take a page from your book and try to tone up until my birthday as well… Forgive my lack of originality and borrowing your idea. *lol*
Here, there was a big typhoon, and other than that, i too haven’t had much time to spend online. Doesn’t look like it will be remedied any time soon, until the project for which i am part-time translating, is over. *sigh* :-))
Anyway, i made an extra effort to put up some pictures of our neighbourhood after the typhoon. :-))

tokyo rose: great that you are visiting family and spending some quality time. that’s nice to hear that you were a nutritionist before. i definitely will have to ask you a few questions about nutrition. hobbies… i guess because my gigs allow me much time for social interaction with others, i need some alone time to work on my hobbies, etc… sort of creates a nice balance in my life. and i find that whenever i do a big band or top40 gig, i have to listen to some nice soothing classical music to balance that out as well.
kc: that would be so cool if you could send me some coins from bhutan! i would definitely reimburse you for the postage and handling. i do have a lot of coins from other countries. nothing really from bhutan, india or nepal. i do have a couple of coins from tibet.
anyway, that’s great that you’re planning to tone up before your bday.
sorry to hear about the typhoon in your area. i’ll definitely chec out your pics.

Alright then! You shall have the coins from Bhutan, India and Nepal. :-)) The Nepalese coins might come to directly from my best friend in Nepal if i cannot send them to you directly myself. Other than that i have enough coins from India and Nepal. Just let me know where you want them sent. I can do it after the 12th of September. As the person will being me the coins from Bhutan then. Don’t worry about the postage and handling etc, no biggie! :-))
Glad i can finally do something for you.
As for the pics, don’t worry about it. Just mentioning it, if you happened to hear news of the typhoon on the news, and wondered what happened to those of us who live right next to the Tama river here in Tokyo. :-))
