Witch fire growing…

The governor has declared a state of emergency, and the news stations strongly advice San Diegans to keep an eye on the “breaking news” reports throughout the night.

The Cedar Fire raged through Scripps Ranch back in 2003. Many families who lost their homes didn’t have enough time to pack up their belongings. That is how fast this fires can travel because of the strong winds.

My family and I have already packed up our important papers and belongings, so we’re sort of prepared in case the authorities tell us we need to evacuate.

The potential is there, so one must be prepared…

11:25 p.m.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency in the counties of San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara and Ventura due to the 11 major wildfires burning throughout Southern California.

More than 30,000 acres have burned and more areas are threatened, officials in the governor’s office said.

The governor’s proclamation allows the state Office of Emergency Services to send personnel, equipment and facilities to provide local government help under the California Disaster Assistance Act.

KC: The fires are getting closer to my area. Evacuations are happening just north of me at Rancho Bernardo.

Back in 2003 when the Cedar Fire occured, I tried to stay as long as I could at home, even after the police told us to evacuate.
