wild fires in san diego county
October 21st, 2007BREAKING NEWS: All residents in Ramona south of Highway 78, west of Pine south to Monticeto and the San Diego Country Estates urged to evacuate immediately! Updated 9:20pm
. . . .
As you might know, Southern California is once again in emergency mode with several wild fires burning from north of Los Angeles to San Diego.
In San Diego we have the Witch Creek Fire and the Harris Fire, both have burned more than 8,000 acres so far and is in the process of being contained by fire fighters, but the fires are continuing to burn.
Remember the Cedar Fire from a few years ago, and how close it came to many of us residents here in San Diego. Many families lost their homes in the Scripps Ranch area where I live. I am very fortunate that my home didn’t burn down.
Hopefully, things won’t take a turn for the worst. I’d hate to have to evacuate again like what happened during the Cedar Fire.
I did a really dumb thing, by the way. I was feel so energetic today that I ran around the lake near my home, which is a 5 mile course. I thought I was experiencing smoke inhalation and I just wanted to keep running and finish the course. So, now I’m suffering and having some coughing fits. Next time there is a fire and smoke and ash are all around, I’m not going to run outside and just stay indoors. That was pretty dumb of me.

Damn. X_X;; I hope you don’t have to evacuate either or that your house burns down.

Tara-Chan: Thanks for the message. So far so good. Haven’t evacuated yet and my house is still standing. No threats in my immediate neighborhood yet. *crosses fingers*

i’ve often wondered why this is such a pervasive human trait: doing something when our intuition tells us not to. testing our limits, maybe? take it easy, carlos!
crossing my fingers too, for everyone in your area…

tokyorose: thanks for your thoughts and concerns.
i’m packing right now just in case. the fires are just miles away, depending on the direction of the wind… it’s all random.
