My family and I are currently at my Mom and Dad’s house in Linda Vista, which is very centrally located in San Diego city.
The mass exodus out of Scripps Ranch was pretty insane. Traffic congestion all the way to the freeway entrance at Carrol Canyon Road.
Later we’re going to check into this hotel in the Fashion Valley area. We were told that the hotel is giving us “evacuee discounts”.
We had the option to go to the Qualcomm Stadium Evacuation Center, but we just want to try and get our own temporary room somewhere and wait until they say we can go back home.
So far, the evacuation of the entire Scripps Ranch community is pre-cautionary at this point, but there are fires in Poway, the community just north of Scripps Ranch.

I’m glad you and your family are safe. Can you believe they have nothing of this news at all here in Japan? Not a whisper? :-(( So, I am really sorry, I had no idea, not that i can do much except pray for the safety of the homes. I know how much trouble it is evacuations and resettlement. I volunteered for the Great Kansai earthquake Aid program, and some of the people could not go back to their homes for until 2-4 years later!! I hope nothing like that ever happens to anyone again!
Once again, really glad you all are physically alright. our prayers and thoughts are with you.

KC: thanks, KC. maybe by now the news should have reached Japan? i’ve been ready it on the BBC site, and at the Manila Times site as well.
