BREAKING NEWS: Mandatory evacuations ordered all the way west to Interstate 5 and north of state Route 56; homes burning, residents trapped; Qualcomm Stadium set up as evacuation center.

My wife is insisting that we pack and load our valuables. I’m tired. The air quality in San Diego sucks. I basically didn’t sleep at all last night. And I’ve been loading stuff into our cars.

They didn’t say that San Diego City Schools were closed, so I took my youngest son to school. Then we got a call (just after I dropped him off and went home) that he needed to be picked up and the school is now closed.

We’re planning on moving our vehicles to my parents house which is further south and in the more centralized San Diego metro area.

I’m constantly monitoring the news on the TV, and looking outside at the sky.

I think all this evacuation stuff is a bit pre-mature for my area, but you never know I guess… better safe than sorry?

I don’t know…

Wow, that is scary Carlos, we had to evacuate our home 3 years ago when those fires went through, at 2AM. You are smart to start thinking of what you would grab!! Hope your are OK…

Sue: thank you, Sue! we’re at my parents house which is pretty far from the fires, so we’re pretty much safe right now.
