My iTunes Playlists
December 13th, 2007And I would say my music listening and appreciation falls into two distinct categories:
1. Pure Listening Pleasure
2. Study and Research
As a musician I enjoy studying music. And I probably do so along the lines of being a rather serious ethno-musicologist. I try to listen to all music from around the world. Ancient and modern.
But, I’m also an audiophile. I listen to music for the sonic pleasure it provides.
If I could afford it, I would probably buy a McIntosh integrated amplifier with flat magneplanar ribbon speakers. Or something similar that would run up to around $5,000 or more. But, I can’t afford that right now, so I’m happy with my Onkyo Intergrated Power Amp with JBL tower speakers.
Anyway, I was on Manny’s blog the other day and noticed that he likes to share his playlists and thought, “Gee whiz, that’s such a great idea!” And thought to borrow his idea and share my own playlists.
So lately, my iTunes playlists have been focused on one or two word themes. And mainly containing tunes from albums with artistic cover art, and music that was primarily sublime yet sonically subtle… ironically, most of the music I listen to lately has been without drums. Hmmm…
