In My Mind’s Zen Garden

I just wanted to wish my home team, the San Diego Chargers (13-5), the best as they get ready to go against the undefeated New England Patriots (17-0) this coming Sunday, January 20, 2008 - Gillette Stadium - 12 Noon (PST) for the AFC Championship Game.

As many of you know, I never talk about sports here, and I’m not about to claim to be a “fair weather” Charger fan either. But, living here in San Diego, one can’t help but feel the energy today, and the enthusiasm and excitement for the Chargers.

Last Sunday the Chargers stunned the reigning Super Bowl Champs, the Indianapolis Colts, in a very exciting game, minus their star quarterback (Philip Rivers) and star running back (LaDainian Tomlinson - LT) for most of the game! And, against NFL’s top quarterback Peyton Manning.

There is a lot of talk about how the New England Patriots are heavily favored to win. The game is at their home field, they’ll have their fans there, they are undefeated, and they have a dynasty that has won the most Super Bowl games in this century…

So… the Indianapolis Colts were heavily favored to win last Sunday and lost. And with the Chargers on an 8 game winning streak, they are definitely not the same team New England beat earlier in the season. People can talk and make predictions all they want, but you just never know….

Win or Lose… you gotta hand it to the Chargers for turning what could’ve been a losing season into a winning one, beating last years Super Bowl Champions and making it into the AFC Championship Game against an undefeated New England Patriots!
