Giants Win The Super Bowl!
February 4, 2008 by randomguru
I’m not really a football fan. Matter of fact, I’m not really a sports fan. But, the Super Bowl is usually a big deal and every year I end up watching it. So, this year was no exception.
Once, long ago I was a pretty dedicated San Diego Chargers fan. I mean, usually you have to cheer for your home team, right? Well, there were times when I remember San Diegans cheering for say, the San Francisco 49ers, or the Dallas Cowboys. San Diego has had more losing seasons than I care to remember.
New England vs San Diego
So, a couple of weeks ago saw us San Diegans cheering for our Chargers against the undefeated (at the time) New England Patriots. And the Chargers turned what could’ve been a losing season into a playoff reality, winning 8 straight and a meeting with the undefeated New England Patriots.
The Chargers battled valiantly against the Patriots. It was a great game, but the Chargers came up short and New England moved on to the Super Bowl.
And since then I’d been secretly favoring the underdog New York Giants to win, even though all predictions and NFL experts pointed to the Patriots winning. And there was a lot of pressure for Tom Brady and team to make history and be the first team to have a perfect season at 19-0.
History Was Made Alright
Well, history was made alright, and it looks like Super Bowl XLII will go down as the biggest upset win in the history of the Super Bowl. What an incredible game! You have to give credit to Eli Manning and the New York Giants for pulling off a “Giant” upset.
Anyway, as I’ve said, I’m not much of a sports fan, but I feel some sense of closure in watching the Giants beat the Patriots, the same Patriots who beat the Chargers… what goes around comes around and last night it came around big time.
Congratulations to the New York Giants for making history and winning Super Bowl XLII.

Yup, that was a good game for a change. I was rooting for the Giants too and am happy they played the spoiler. Brady always looks too cocky so it’s good to see that he is indeed human.
Yep, I totally agree… and now, Super Bowl XLII is history. Can’t wait till next year though. For some reason I like the Super Bowl, just like I always enjoy watching the Summer Olympics. :o)
