Where’s Jordano?
July 2, 2008 by randomguru
This question has been on my mind ever since I came back from the Philippines. Where’s Jordano?
The trip to the Philippines was filled with both happiness and tragedy. Tragic in that we had to deal with the loss of my wife’s father. But happy to be able to go abroad and visit the Philippines again. Either way though, the expenses for this trip is something that will take it’s toll in the months to come as my family tries to overcome our grief and mourning, and get back some sense of normalcy in our lives. Of course, it doesn’t help with the high gas prices and current economic situation, not to mention the fact that my gig situation has been not too good this summer.
But ever since I got back, I haven’t been able to contact the flamenco guitarist and bandleader of Flamenco Nova! And all I received was a second hand text message from another bandmember that Jordano had some kind of emergency going on. Well, it’s been two weeks and no sign of Jordano! I can’t reach him and it’s caused me some great concern. Flamenco Nova has had to hire another guitarist to take Jordano’s place and he’s a great musician, but it’s just not the same without Jordano. There is a certain chemistry with this band that makes it a special musical project to me.
So, that’s my major concern. You’d think that with today’s modern technology and communications, one would keep in touch via email, text messaging, instant messaging or cell phone. It makes me wonder if it’s something I did wrong, or somehow I had offended him. If so, I am truly sorry for whatever was said or done. It’s been a rough year, having to take care of my father-in-law because of his terminal illness, and having to drop everything and go abroad to help lay my father-in-law to rest and to deal with the emotional grief.
Hopefully, Jordano is okay. But not knowing what’s up has been a major concern since I got back. It’s like I lost a brother. In Flamenco Nova we are all like blood brothers… and the rest of the band is doing what it can to salvage the upcoming performances and continue the project without its leader.
And so, the question remains… Where’s Jordano?

Any news from Jordano?
Pat: None whatsoever! It’s like he just disappeared off the face of the Earth… it’s just frustrating, coming back and not knowing anything.
I’m very concerned about Jordano too. How about calling his day job with his full name? Anybody done a missing person on him? Or maybe he doesn’t want to be found . . . ?
Please let me know anything that comes up. It’s getting to be too much time passed now, I miss him at Friars Folly and all the beautiful roses he has brought me.

P.S. Sorry about your loss too. Life will get back to normal for you. It’s a process.
i’m sorry for your loss, carlos. i hope your wife is coping alright. my thoughts are with you.
i can relate to the jordano mystery. something similar happened to me a while ago. modern technology or not, it strikes me that it’s so much easier to disappear from view these days. i hope there’s some news of him by now…
Tami: thanks so much for your comments. And we’ll investigate further as far as work number is concerned. Jordano’s girlfriend recently gave birth to a baby boy, i think. so it’s understandable if he needs to take some time off from Flamenco Nova.
He just needs to keep in touch. Just so we know he’s alright.
Anyway, it’s always a pleasure performing at your restaurant. Don’t worry, perhaps you will receive some roses sometime soon… :o)
