The Magibon Phenomena

Magibon (aka MRirian) is a young American woman from Pennsylvania who “speaks” Japanese and is a big fan of Japanese culture. She became an internet celebrity, is the most-viewed person on Japanese YouTube, and her videos have received millions upon millions of hits:

The first time I’d seen one of her videos, I immediately thought to myself, “hmm… a living, breathing anime character!” And in most of her short videos, she just stares quietly into the camera, makes googly eyes, and ends by giving the peace sign.

Here’s a video that attempts to explain the whole Magibon Phenomena.
