Paranormal Activity In Your Home…

August 6th, 2008

I was just curious. Has anyone ever experienced some strange phenomena in your home?

The reason I ask is that my sis-in-law who lives up the street had experienced something rather frightful (well, to her, naturally).

She called me the other night at around 3am in the morning actually, and was very scared and distraught. She said she had only been sleeping 45 minutes when the shower had awoken her in the middle of the night. Apparently, it had turned on by itself and the light in the bathroom was on. When the shower had turned off and the light went out, she screamed and yelled out, then ran down the stairs.

Her husband was away in L.A. and it was just her, her two children and her aunt. Needless to say, for the rest of the night they all slept in the downstairs room that her aunt occupies.

Could it have been the spirit of my father-in-law? Or some other entity? Actually, I hope it was the former rather than the latter.

So, I consoled her for what seemed like a good hour on the phone. I was skeptical, even though I had experienced some pretty strange bizarre phenomena, myself.

And I was thinking that, could it be that our minds can play tricks on us? I was thinking that if my sis-in-law had awakened suddenly she might have been in a dream state. Or somewhere between the dream state and reality. And maybe the experience of the shower and bathroom light turning on and off by itself was just her mind re-playing the event of her husband taking a shower late at night that was mixed in with her dreams but because she was in-between the dream and the awake state, her mind may have become confused.

Anyway, from my own experiences, I do believe that it’s highly possible that there is more to our lives that our five senses simply wouldn’t be able to perceive. If dogs, for example, have a more acute sense of hearing and smell than we humans, it’s logical reasoning to say that we can presume there are phenomena out there than we can’t explain.

As I’ve mentioned in the past, I’ve experienced actually apparitions. But still, I question what I had experienced. I acknowledge that possibility, but at the same time I question what I experienced. And I even laugh at the thought that I may have just been hallucinating.

So, have you experienced some odd happenings in your own home? Just curious…

i’ve had the lights come on but definitely not the shower :0. i’d like to think it was the spirit of someone too, but my rational side tells me there may have been a sudden electricity charge (spain’s funny like that). i have felt a hand on my shoulder once, and i was convinced it was my grandfather…

when these kinds of things happen, i tend to look for the cats. if they’re around and notice it too, i’m more inclined to believe it than if they’re just sitting around washing a paw like nothing happened^^.

Awwww…maybe it’s your father-in-law, Carlos. She shouldn’t be scared. :-( I’ve experienced it somewhat when my grandfather passed away when I was a child. When he was still alive, he got up early everyday to water his plants. A week after he passed away, my sister and I woke up at around five in the morning to the sound of someone watering the plants in our yard. We looked out our windows but didn’t see anybody. We got really scared so we told our mom but she just smiled at us and said that we shouldn’t be scared of my grandfather.
