There’s an old bible quote that says, “there’s nothing new under the sun.”

When it comes to music, that quote above is a part of my personal philosophy.

I try not to stay entirely current with the latest musical trends. This is because of two reasons:

1. Most of the new music I hear isn’t entirely original, and one can trace its origins to some form of music in the past.

2. Music from the past, if presented to the listener for the very first time, could be considered new to that individual.

So, as a professional musician and part-time musicologist, anything CAN be new to the listener.
