Forgetfulness? The Beginnings of Alzheimer’s?
September 16, 2008 by randomguru
My wife got on my case last night because I didn’t know the meaning of “vindictive”, or had forgotten…
In any case, today I had a series of memory lapses that made me worry a little bit:
1. I was supposed to park in front of Vons before going into the supermarket, but instead I parked in front of the CVS drug store, which was next door! I was with my oldest son and he reminded me that I had parked in front of the CVS store.
2. For a split second, while heading back to the car with groceries in hand, I had forgotten where we parked… I had passed our car. My son looked at me and then our car, and that’s what cued me.
3. I was heating up some coffee in the microwave for my wife, and when the coffee was ready I opened the door to the oven (below) instead of the actual microwave door.
Is this typical? Does stuff likes this ever happen to you? Usually I have a pretty sharp memory, but now I’m worrying….

dear anonymous: thank you for the comforting words. hehe… ;P
Gads Carlos, if you start twitching now I will stop reading!! It sounds normal for an old codger like you. I can say that because I’m a bit older! ;-)
nahh, it’s absolutely normal to have periods of forgetfulness when you’re otherwise stressed out or preoccupied. and you’ve had quite a year…
i know you turned 50 this year, mate, but don’t let it go to your head^-.
Pat: Well, no twitching yet… okay, I’ll take your word for it. :o)
Tokyorose: Thanks for saying it’s normal. Given the year’s events so far, yes I think I just let it get to me.
Thanks for chimin’ folks! ;o)
