Radical Bailout Plan Has A Jawdropping Price Tag

WASHINGTON - Struggling to stave off financial catastrophe, the Bush administration on Friday laid out a radical bailout plan with a jawdropping price tag — a takeover of a half-trillion dollars or more in worthless mortgages and other bad debt held by tottering institutions.

Dear President Bush,

Since you’re administration is planning to bail out some of the biggest investment firms on Wall Street to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars because suddenly, many of them are going bankrupt… well, I ask you… could you spare a few hundred thousand dollars so you can help me pay off my mortgage loan?

I’m sure it would be a very minor inconvenience, and with the extra money I’ll save (not having to make that BIG mortgage payment every month) I could put that money back into the economy as a devoted, conscientious consumer.

Thank you in advance, and God Bless America!

Sincerely,
A Patriotic Homeowner

P.S. - Can you throw in a few thousand more for a flat screen TV?
