Jim: thanks for your feedback! I'll have to try a blueberry smoothie, it sounds great! But I'm comfortable (addicted?) to the raw cacao smoothies. i put spirulina tablets in those. so you have spirulina nectar or something. you scoop it up? interesting. :o)

Great post! I had a blueberry smoothie today w/ a huge spoon of spirulina blended in. I think spirulina peps me up a bit. I've tried maca only once & that was in a raw cookie. Not sure if it had any effect, but will have to experiment sometime.

Another benefit I sometimes read about superfoods is that, since they're so packed with nutrients, you receive a *lot* of nutrients in a food that is low in calories. Thus, it's a good way to optimize nutrition if you're concerned with keeping calorie count low. Many people, of course, believe that low-cal diets in general correlate with longer life spans. I've read of many scientific studies that seem to demonstrate that phenomenon.

tokyorose: i get the impression that maca in powder form is pretty powerful stuff and should be respected. :o)

one thing though... too much energy foods (all of the time) isn't really entirely good. one needs to rest, and one needs to known when to take it.

like today. i feel very energized, but i need to taper off the energy foods at night so i won't be up until 3am. so, it does have it's time and place. ;o)

tokyorose: i've only started using Maca in powdered form in my smoothies. so far so good. haven't had any bad reactions to it. but my cacao smoothies usually boost my energy anyway.

but then again maybe i'm not using enough of it to tell the difference in significant energy levels... wow, 10 red bulls? :o)
