Depressed Again…

So, just now I realized that I’d been coding PHP, XHTML, CSS all day on Rice Bowl Journals and I’m utterly exhausted and my shoulders are aching.

I just called Donnie and told him I’ll bow out of tonight’s gig. Just feeling a bit run down and under-the-weather. And I’m a bit depressed because I submitted several listings of gig dates and they are basically ignoring me now.

Like, it’s so frustrating and depressing when you’ve been a seasoned professional musician playing a LOT of Jazz, Latin, Flamenco, Big Band and solo piano work, and the main local Jazz radio station decides to ignore you and not list you… especially when you’re gigging consistently each week!

I’ve listened to KSDS FM Jazz 88.3 since my high school days playing with the jazz ensemble. After working all these years it just doesn’t seem fair that I can’t even get listed!

I guess you have to be in their tight circle, or a part of their clique. I’ve tried to contact the station manager to no avail. Ironic, that I have performed on their “Jazz Live” concert series probably 3-4 times in my local career…

Whatever…

that's an artist's lot, isn't it? definitely not the easiest profession to go for, but we know why we do it, i guess...

  • tokyorose: okay, i'm feeling much, much better today! :o)

i should've known better to let being rejected get the best of me. it's tough when one gets rejected for doing what one loves and does best in life.

to heck with the local jazz station if they don't want to list my gigs. i'm still out there gigging away and enjoying it.
  • hang in there, carlos. one day at a time...
  • Sue and Jim, thank you! I'll live....

It's just that sometimes you work hard, and you have goals you want to get accomplished for the new year, and right away you run into obstacles.

Wow, I hate to hear you so bummed out, Carlos. Can you maybe call the station and talk to someone about this? Sometimes those places just get overwhelmed with paperwork & stuff. Have they ever listed you before?
  • Sue
Sorry you're feeling down, Carlos. I hope some good rest helps. (((((Hugs)))))
