For those of you not-too-familiar with this MMORPG game (that is extremely popular and addictive), here’s some background information!

About World of Warcraft – from Wikipedia.org

World of Warcraft, often referred to as WoW, is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). It is Blizzard Entertainment’s fourth released game set in the fantasy Warcraft universe, which was first introduced by Warcraft: Orcs & Humans in 1994. World of Warcraft takes place within the world of Azeroth, four years after the events at the conclusion of Blizzard’s previous release, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Blizzard Entertainment announced World of Warcraft on September 2, 2001. The game was released on November 23, 2004, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise.

The first expansion set of the game, The Burning Crusade, was released on January 16, 2007. The second expansion set, Wrath of the Lich King, was released on November 13, 2008.

With more than 11.5 million monthly subscribers, World of Warcraft is currently the world’s largest MMORPG in those terms, and holds the Guinness World Record for the most popular MMORPG. In April 2008, World of Warcraft was estimated to hold 62% of the massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) market.

The Battle Within…

Wednesday, 25th February 2009

I’ll be the first to admit I’m far from perfect. I have flaws. I try to discipline myself in order to become a better, more enlightened human being.

But, I assure you it’s an ongoing struggle.

For example, today I had grandiose plans on going on a fast (inspired by Gandhi’s), thinking I could easily go for at least a week on just water. Well, that was the plan. But at least I was able to skip breakfast and lunch.

Fasting is something I have done before, and I should know better that I truly need to be mentally and spiritually prepared for a fast, and not just physically. So, I will try again and prepare. But, I’m happy to be back on a raw vegan diet again. (I actually haven’t strayed too far from it)

But my aim for this period before Easter (which is traditionally known as Lent) is to focus on fasting, meditation and prayer. And it will be a time to cleanse myself: spiritually, mentally and physically.

Let the battle to discipline body, mind and spirit begin…

New Jersey Defies Real Estate Crunch

Wednesday, 25th February 2009

new_jerseyReal Estate New Jersey

Despite problems facing America’s real estate and housing market, there are pockets of properties actually doing better than the overall average.

New Jersey is one of those states that has actually increased in population over the last few years. In addition, the real estate market in New Jersey seems to be unaffected by the real estate/housing crunch. And this could be partially attributed to a higher average income level, and the type of industries that are currently prospering in the “Garden State”.

Some New Jersey Statistics

(a) New Jersey (b) the national average

  • avg. household Income … (a) $86,040 … (b) $65,273
  • Median Value of Home Equity … (a) $215,928 … (b) $180,359
  • Median Mortgage Debt … (a) $468,869 … (b) $370,138

According to recent statistics, New Jersey has a higher average household income than the national average! In addition, the median value of homes are quite a bit higher than the national average as well.

New Jersey might be well known for Atlantic City and its sandy beaches, or for Hoboken (the birthplace of Frank Sinatra), but the stats show that New Jersey is among the wealthiest based on median household income:

Its per capita personal income in 2004 was $41,636, 2nd in the U.S. and 126% of the national average of $33,041. Its median household income is the highest in the nation with $55,146. The state also has the highest percentage of millionaire households. It is ranked 2nd in the nation by the number of places with per capita incomes above national average with 76.4%. Nine of New Jersey’s counties are in the wealthiest 100 of the country.

Could it be the presence of major medical and pharmaceutical companies in New Jersey?

New Jersey’s economy is centered on the pharmaceutical industry, chemical development, telecommunications, food processing, electric equipment, printing and publishing, and tourism. New Jersey’s agricultural outputs are nursery stock, horses, vegetables, fruits and nuts, seafood, and dairy products.

A big advantage is that New Jersey is sandwiched between the greater metropolitan areas of New York City and Philadelphia.

Whether it is the result of medical professionals relocating to New Jersey because of the big pharmaceutical companies, or the fact that 9 counties in New Jersey are among the Top 100 wealthiest in the country, somehow New Jersey seems to be doing quite well with regards to the real estate market.

  • 1. To the left is a photo of a young Angelina Jolie, supposedly one of her first photo shoots as a young actress/model. I just found the photo interesting because (aside from the youth factor) she looks fairly similar to the way she looks now, with her current hairstyle and all.
  • 2. I was planning to start a fast on Ash Wednesday, but realistically, I have a lot of raw foods to consume first so they don’t go to waste. I’m the only one eating raw foods as part of my main diet, so I have to eat them. And, I will focus on raw green smoothies to use up the remaining foods.
  • 3. Last night I was feeling very bloated, tired, and lethargic. Just eating those couple of cooked meals really messed me up. I seriously don’t recommend any raw foodist to suddenly eat a cooked meal. I really didn’t feel well. Which proves just how detrimental cooked foods are to one’s health. It’s just that most people are used to eating a cooked meal. Raw foods provide a more cleaner, nutrition-packed meal with less empty calories.
  • 4. This morning I’ll be doing time in the recording studio. Haha… sounds like I’m doing a prison sentence. But I’m actually playing drums in the recording studio with the jazz-pop trio. Should be fun.
  • 5. Today’s Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras time! What are my plans? Well, once I get out of the recording studio I’m going to be tired. We’ll see how it goes and if my wife wants to go downtown to the Gaslamp Quarter for Mardi Gras. But usually we don’t do anything special.
  • 6. I’ve slashed prices at my Amazon.com store. Right now I’ve got 50 items (books, music, movies) for sale at: http://amazon.com/shops/randomguru
  • 7. So glad Slumdog Millionaire won 8 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. Such a great, inspiring movie. And I love the original music from motion picture. Great stuff.

jacket…the tough go shopping, online!

ELIZABETH AND JAMES Field Jacket

Elizabeth and James is actually a fashion line created by twin actresses and fashion icons Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. This is the third label created by the Olsen twins, who’s fashion and merchandising empire is said to have a net worth of more than $100 million dollars.

The Elizabeth and James fashion line is named after Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s siblings, younger sister Elizabeth and older brother James, and was created to clash masculine and feminine sensibilities, as well as casual and dressy stylings.

The above green casual jacket is part of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s Elizabeth and James label:

Elizabeth and James brings a couture sensibility to the contemporary customer. Seeking to narrow the gap between designer and contemporary clothing, Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen act as muses and co-designers on this new fashion label.

Combining opposing styles and looks, from masculine and feminine, casual and dressy, and uptown with downtown, this jacket’s features include:

  • Color – Cypress Green
  • 100% cotton
  • Button front
  • Belted waist
  • Front pockets
  • Ruched sleeves

Beginning their acting careers as infants on the television series, “Full House”, and later on “Two of a Kind”, the twins grew up in television and film. But their success and wealth grew dramatically when they decided to merchandise their image, creating their company called Duelstar which created books, videos, clothes, toys, etc. And the rest is history…

More info regarding the ELIZABETH AND JAMES Field Jacket can be found at stylehive.com, as well as more products from the Elizabeth and James label.

From Raw To Cooked To Raw Again…

Raw Open Face BLT, Salsa and Cashew Milk

Last week I completed 100 days of being on a 100% raw vegan diet. So, what did I do these last few days? At a couple of gigs I was offered cooked food, and I was thinking about the Dalai Lama’s philosophy of accepting food that is offered to you and not offending the host or hostess. Then I was thinking about how expensive food was, especially organic foods. I was wondering that, if I am offered food that I should accept it graciously. Read more
