Just Focus on Peace…

I’m not going to mention any names out of respect, but someone said this to me on facebook:
“Carlos–please remove your left leaning ramblings from my home page”
Actually, this person took it upon himself to remove me from his friends list.
He’s a very talented musician I’ve gigged with in the 1990s with a big band. I believe he was also a musician in the Navy, now retired.
One thing that had always stuck in my mind was something he told me once while on the road performing in Las Vegas.
“What happens on the road stays on the road”
Well, I never liked that saying, because it always implied being dishonest or secretive toward someone you know, most likely someone close to you and who trusts you.
Anyway, there was something I said on facebook and I even shared a video. I’m not going to mention any names because I don’t feel these people need further promotion on google.
I’ll just say that I was appalled at the mean-spiritedness and rudeness of a couple of so-called right-wing conservatives.
Now I just want to say that people might judge me as being a leftist, liberal commie… but in truth, I am a-political, and specifically non-political. I don’t even want to be associated with anything political. Really.
I think my mindset is beyond political and to me that is a better place. There is just too much fighting going on between right-wing and left-wing people. And to me that is such a waste of energy. And forgive me for even mentioning such political things on my facebook account.
The Buddha always taught about the middle way, and I truly believe in that. In fact, life and the universe around us takes on a duality… light and dark, male and female, right and left, hard and soft… and in this universe it seems you can’t have one without the other… the yin and the yang!
It is best to strive for the middle path, and I think this applies to many aspects of life.
And if you’ve accused me of being a leftist leaning liberal, then you don’t know me at all. I think I’m more than that. And, I don’t really care for categories.
It’s funny how we humans like to give names to everything and anything, to classify and to categorize…
In this universe is not all one?
