Under The Weather, and Under The Radar

My Jazz DrumsetYou know you’re…

under the weather when you slip on the stairs, and do other assorted clumsy stuff like that! I best stay under the radar as well.

Not feeling my best today. I seem to be experiencing mild back and muscle aches when one is about to get the flu. Of course, in the past four days from Thursday to Sunday, I’ve been in contact with a lot of people. But, actually I’m a bit rundown because the last four days have been very busy.

Thursday, October 8th

Performed at a Retirement Party at my wife’s work with Ritmo Loco. It was all good. At this time I’ve been feeling a tiny bit under-the-weather. But, I managed to perform with confidence and at 100% (maybe more).

Friday, October 9th

Went up to UC Riverside to visit my oldest son, who needed more “supplies” and food. He was super busy studying and getting ready for his mid-terms, so he wasn’t going to be able to make it down to San Diego. Thus, we went up there and brought food, purified water, etc.

My youngest son was at his friend’s home in San Diego, so afterward coming back home from Riverside we picked my youngest son from his friend’s home.

Saturday, October 10th

jazz quartet...After doing errands for much of the day, and after taking my wife to her optometry appointment, I did a outdoor concert with Ritmo Loco again in Escondido. It was cold out there at first, but then cloud cover came and toward the end of the concert it warmed up, actually. Of course, it was just as cold for the audience, but overall it was a very good night of playing latin-jazz. It felt great to do an actual concert, but afterwards I was feel slightly rundown again.

Sunday, October 11th

I had to wake up at 6am, get ready and get to the church by 7:30am to set up the drums, rehearsal at 8am to around 8:45am, then we did our two church services at 9am and 11am. It is always uplifting and fun to play gospel music, and here they let us play jazz too. So, always rewarding at all levels (spiritually, physically, emotionally) but afterwards, when I leave at around 12:45pm, I’m pretty beat and in need of a rest.

But afterwards it’s more time for a few errands, took my youngest son to his dance jam/audition. And, picked him up later in the evening at around 10pm. So, Sunday was a long day for me.

Monday, October 12th

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

As usual, I drove my son to his school at around 6:30am. He actually is driving and practicing daily to-and-from school.

Though, I’m feel like I’m about to get sick with the flu or a bad head cold. So, today is a total rest day, although I was able to practice piano for about an hour this morning, playing baroque improvisations. I went back to sleep and woke up again around 11:30am. And I’m really feeling out-of-it.

Need to rest. Though I probably won’t totally. Always something that needs to be done…
