“Whisper Not”
I’m going through a phase in which I once again have “writer’s block”.
Okay, well logically I AM writing something but it’s not the same.
You know… I don’t have “that spark” of creativity in my writing. It’s all about emotional content and saying something that one feels is meaningful.
So, I’m thinking that logically, it’s best to at least go through the motions of writing and at least write as an exercise.
Whisper Not
And I’m relying on the title from one of Keith Jarrett’s albums entitled, “Whisper Not”, as a catalyst for writing something down, and not being silent. Of course, one runs the risk of rambling on and on about something, yet at the same time, isn’t it the benefits of the medium of the online journal or blog to ramble?
So, here I am… rambling, thinking about something to write when I don’t really have a good topic or subject to write about other than to write about writing.
Life Isn’t Boring
Perhaps, there’s really nothing to write about in my life right now. Could it be that boring? Far from the contrary. I am happy with life at the moment. Life, is never REALLY boring to me since I see life from a better viewpoint than say, 20 years ago.
Now, one thing I’ve been getting into are the Hubble Telescope’s photos which to me are no less than miraculous. That fact that we can actually take some pretty clear, acurate, detailed photos of the far reaches of the universe is most definitely a miracle that one should appreciate, or at least learn to.
The Universe
Here’s the universe according to my Ubuntu desktop… my universe that changes every half hour, through a collection of photos via the Hubble Telescope. It’s a beautiful set of desktop photos.
Command Central
And here’s my command center at home… we have old computers, one dating back to circa 1996, which still accesses the Internet (somewhat pathetically because of an old OS and browser)…
The command center needs work, and perhaps a need to finally separate all the PCs to different rooms. All that electrical usage in one place… hmm… but, that is what such a workstation unit is for, right?
My youngest son has a nice computer (located in the center) that he and his cousin put together from parts, so it’s pretty fast and has a nice graphics card.
The Piano as Universe
But I’ve been practicing piano. Daily. I always practice but I need to step it up. So much to learn, so little time. I haven’t lost sight of the fun-ness of playing piano, but I have to work harder on scales and keys and various harmonic structures…
Music is something that is constantly in motion and transition whether it’s pop music or jazz and classical, just like the constant motion of the galaxies and stars and other celestial objects in the universe. With that in mind, I guess you could say that Music is, in essence, Universal…
