Jordan’s High School Graduation 2010

I haven’t blogged in 4 days because I was busy getting ready for my youngest son’s high school graduation!

It’s just amazing how one can feel exhausted just by doing a bunch of little errands leading up to the big event.

I had this idea to make a life-size cutout of my son doing an advanced yogic pose.

A while back, I was impressed and pleasantly surprised that my youngest boy could do some fairly advanced yoga poses, having not had any formal training or lessons. Of course, I’d been doing yoga for years at home and he’d been watching me all this time, for at least the past 10 years. And maybe he saw the advanced yogic poses from one of my books.

Needless to say, I thought it would be a great idea to make a life-size cutout of him doing the headstand with lotus pose, and here he is (above) doing the same pose with his cutout.

The Big Event at Viejas Arena, SDSU

Commencement took place at 6pm at Viejas Arena (formerly Cox Arena) on the San Diego State University campus. This was the same venue where my oldest boy’s graduation commencement also took place. He too attended and graduated from Scripps Ranch High School.

Close-Ups on the Big Screens

My only critique about the whole event was that the arena was too dimly lighted! I mean, us parents want to get better lighting so that we can properly photograph our children. Why so dark?

Anyway, most of the time I was trying to catch my son on the big screens up above. I successfully spotted him when he first walked in with his graduating class, and when he received his diploma on stage (pictured below).

Big Smiles

It’s good to see my son genuinely happy and smiling during his graduation. I think I was a little bit lost or looked bewildered during my own high school graduation.

Anyway, I now have two boys who have graduated from high school, and will both be in college now. As happy as my wife and I are about this, now the next challenge is to help them get through college and graduate with a 4 year degree!
