A Variation on Psalm 8

I’ve posted a couple of my favorite Psalms in the past.

Basically, these are variations on Psalm 23 and Psalm 121.

My latest focus has been on Psalm 8.

Although I am primarily studying the teachings of Buddhism, I also study the teachings of Christianity as well.

I feel there is a lot to learn from all the major religions of the world. It’s like food. I don’t think that we can subsist on one food alone. We need to eat a variety of foods to thrive. And with the great religions of the world, why not study what the best teachings of each religion have to offer.

A Variation on Psalm 8

JesusMy Lord, my Lord
Majestic is your name compared to all creation!

Your glory is in the heavens to behold!

Through the beauty and innocence of children and infants
you have established a sanctuary against all enemies,
to protect against foe and avenger.

When I stand in awe of the heavens;
the work of your hands,
the moon and the stars
which you have set in place,
what is humankind (that you are mindful of them),
of human beings that you care for?

You have made humankind a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

My Lord, my Lord,
Majestic is your name compared to all creation!
