6 Ways to Help You Overcome Life’s Problems

Many times, people rationalize that the secret to happiness can be found externally and outside of themselves. But, in reality, happiness is what the mind perceives it to be. Change your attitude and you can become happy.

A good example of this is tolerance. Some people have a lower tolerance for pain and suffering, while others have a higher threshold. It’s important to be able to adapt to our surroundings. It’s important to be capable of being happy with less.

Another factor in Life is that we take too much for granted. Chances are, if we count our blessings we will actually be more grateful for what we currently have. Studies have shown that poor people in Third World countries are happier living with less, while others more affluent and wealthy aren’t as happy.

The more we rely on material things to make us happy, the more we crave them. It’s a vicious cycle.

We need to be happy just to be alive! And living moment to moment, finding joy in simple things.

Develop Love and Compassion

Many times we are critical of ourselves. We have goals to improve on our current situation, but in doing so we are too hard on ourselves. It’s important to have self-love in terms of self-esteem, just as it is important to love our fellow human beings.

Nurture Peace and Wisdom

It is wisest to nurture peace and wisdom within. Because it is easy to blame others for things that happen to us that are negative. The responsibility primarily lies within ourselves. If we calm the mind to begin with, we can become more peaceful and insightful as to how our mind works and to be more happy and generate that happiness from within, and project it outward.

De-Stress Yourself

There are many ways to relieve stress in our lives. Making a sincere effort to alleviate stress will create a chain reaction that will relieve stress (which can harm us) and be more happy, and helping us to overcome our problems. Beginning an exercise regimen, doing Yoga, meditating; these can help to relieve stress and help us be more happy.

And when WE are happy, chances are, those around us will be happy too, for they will also benefit from that positive energy.

Practice Yoga

Millions of Americans are going to the gym to do Yoga these days. And while I think that is a great thing to get people in shape and to de-stress after work, Yoga really has a deeper, positive impact on the mind, body and spirit. Everyone should be practicing Yoga daily if possible, or if not, go to the gym and practice Yoga in a group.

Adopt A Healthier Diet

This one goes without saying, we are what we eat.

But living in America, where there are so many temptations to eat unhealthy foods, we need to adopt a healthier way of eating. And a macrobiotic diet is just one way to go. But whatever you do, eat whole, organic foods whenever you can and avoid junk food and processed foods. Eat for health. Eat for performance. And you will feel great every time.

Get Outdoors and Appreciate Nature

By simply getting outdoors and enjoying nature, one becomes connected to the Earth and realize that we are a part of this Earth and we are inter-connected!

Hiking is one of the best things I’ve found to be very therapeutic. And it’s really simple to do and doesn’t really cost that much money. There are many hiking trails out there, and go with a group so you feel safe. If you go on your own, make sure you go on trails that are popular and safe.

Getting closer to nature is one of those magical things that makes one appreciate Life more. There is something about going on nature hikes that soothes the spirit and helps us to put things into proper perspective. And besides, hiking and the outdoors are fun!
