Afternoon Update…

Late Lunch

After my morning update, it felt like the day was a flurry of activity, as my wife and I did our errands. And by the time we got home it was already close to 3pm. So, I had a very late lunch consisting of the following “rawness”:

east indian flax crackers w/garlic dip
large salad – lettuce, spinach, arugula, avocado, tomatoes, and sprouts
garlic creamy dressing
almond milk

I Confess I Love Garlic

That was a lot of garlic, but I’m finding that garlic warms me up, so it’s one good thing to eat during the winter months. Though I’ll have to really watch the “garlic breath” and brush thoroughly afterwards.

Thanksgiving – The Real Test For Me

Interestingly enough, I don’t really have any cravings for old, sinful foods. Of course, the real challenge will be getting together with my Filipino family/relatives on Thanksgiving. I will be the only raw vegan there, of course. But, because I don’t really have any cravings I should be okay. But, wish me lucky anyway, and I hope I don’t succumb to any sudden cravings! My only problem is the raw cacao, and I’ve always had a weakness for chocolate. The cacao is my only raw fix.

Focusing On Tonight’s Performance

Anyway, I thought I had a very healthy, satisfying late lunch. Though it seems I ate a lot I don’t feel like taking a nap at all. And I’m currently updating some things on my site before I rest up and get ready for the gig tonight. I’d been rehearsing some songs and I should be ready to do them tonight. So, after updating the site, I’ll rest up a bit and make sure I’m focused for tonight’s performance.

I get to play piano this weekend! Since the regular pianist is gigging in Boston. So, this is a total joy for me. I’ve been playing piano all weekend!

You are doing so great, Carlos! Congratulations!

I’m a big fan of garlic, too. When I was first transitioning to raw and during the first year, garlic was huge in my diet. I find myself eating it less and less, however, as my diet seems to naturally be changing to a much more simple one.

For Thanksgiving, maybe you can make some really awesome raw treats for yourself. That way you’ll be feeling like you are eating some amazing food and not missing out on anything? I always fill my belly before parties and then bring some raw treats, so I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything. With a full belly, I’m there to socialize rather than eat.

You’ll do fine, though! I’m looking forward to hearing how it goes and how you feel about everything. It’s so fascinating to me how much food affects our lives and those around us, while at the same time it should just be the fuel we need. I never regret the decision I made to go raw. I’m sure you won’t either. 😉

    Lots of love to you,
