My Parents Have An Avocado Tree
So yesterday I visited my parents, with the intention of helping my Dad harvest some of those delicious Bacon Avocados from his 20 plus year old avocado tree.
My Dad recently fell down and banged his head and broke his wrist. It was one of those accidents that turned out to be pretty gnarly. He’s okay now, though, and his wrist is in a cast.
Above is a photo of all the avocados plus some Hass Avocados I bought from Trader Joe’s… quite a collection of Avocados, eh?
I love Avocados!!!
Though they are fattening 22 grams of good fat, I think my body burns much of that fat as fuel since I’m 100% raw and not eating any grains anymore. 3 grams of protein… not bad! Tons of fiber!!!! And I’m surprised at the amount of Vitamin C an avocado has.
I think going 100% raw has made me love the Avocado all the more. Avocados are like “gold” to me.
Approximately 75% of an avocado’s calories come from fat, most of which is monounsaturated fat. Avocados also have 60% more potassium than bananas. They are rich in B vitamins, as well as vitamin E and vitamin K. They have the highest fiber content of any fruit – including 75% insoluble and 25% soluble fiber.
