Building A New Vortex Brewer for Compost Tea

Hybrid Tea Rose

A Design Flaw

Basically, after several weeks of using a vortex compost tea brewer copied from one of the videos on YouTube, I discovered that there’s an inherent design flaw in the bucket approach.

Here’s my vortex brewer below, which was working superbly for several weeks, but the weak spot was the hole in the bottom of the bucket. The washers wear out even after a few weeks, and it leaks.

Switching to a Water Bottle

Which led me to design and build my own vortex brewer by utilizing a large water bottle, turned upside down. I’ve seen some really cool designs on YouTube and they’re a little bit more involved, but the idea of using an upside-down water bottle is sheer genius! No leaks from washers going bad!

And, the shape of the upside-down water bottle will naturally create a stronger vortex swirl. I’m pretty excited about building a new vortex brewer.

Here’s an example of a few good ones I’ve seen online:

See how ingenius these designs are?

Okay, back to the drawing board.
