John McCain Rocks On Drums!

I’m sure everyone’s seen those green screen challenges on YouTube, but I especially love this one with John McCain on drums. Actually, it’s the great Dennis Chambers who’s actually doing all the work. McCain is just talking!

Of course, if John McCain really played drums (or piano) he’d definitely have my vote. :o)

On another note:

Dhrumil posted a link on Twitter about actress Gwyneth Paltrow and how she dealt with her father’s death from cancer, and dealing with her own health. I admire Gwyneth’s devotion to Ashtanga Yoga and interests in healthy living. She was featured in the GOOP October Newsletter.

Gwyneth PaltrowI had read somewhere that in Asia, the concept of going to the doctor when you were already sick was akin to digging a well when you were already thirsty. This struck a chord with me. Over the years I have had my share of medical issues, as we all do. Recently I have found three doctors (one in London, one in New York and one in Los Angeles) who have helped me tremendously. Heeding their advice has helped me out of some very sticky health problems (pneumonia, anemia, stress, etc.).Gwyneth Paltrow

Street Yoga? True Yoga?

Hmm… this person is extremely flexible and he appears to be doing an acrobatic form of power yoga, but could this be considered yoga? Getting into that tight plexiglass cube is definitely a yogic feat, though it’s more like a circus act. Yoga… [should] definitely be about spirituality over demonstrating one’s flexibility and nimbleness.

Either way, this is an amazing video. Just as amazing as this one, of course.

Gospel Drumming…

I played drums at a Baptist Church long ago when I was in high school. I remember it to be uplifting, high energy and funky.

So, my recent experiences playing Praise Music or Gospel (whatever you wish to call it) were pretty much the same. Though much more challenging. Read more

Eating for Beauty…

August 12, 2008 by randomguru · Leave a Comment

Eating for BeautyI realize people are at times skeptical about self-improvement books, and I can be pretty skeptical too. But, I believe (after much experimentation with various dietary-lifestyles) that eating as much raw foods as possible can only improve one’s overall well-being.

Eating For Beauty, by David Wolfe, primarily focuses on those “raw” foods that beautify the individual. And I know this could sound a bit superficial, but in the book David Wolfe means inner as well as outer beauty, and beauty in the sense of making one’s life more beautiful… which could directly translate to optimal health, vigor, energy, youthfulness, etc…

This book contains the key for creating beauty within oneself through diet and other complementary factors. Though it explores the role of yoga, beauty sleep, and the psychology of beauty, this book is primarily about the way to eat for beauty. The Beauty Diet is based on principles of raw nourishment–representing the cutting edge nutritional science. ~Amazon.com Review

His motto, “Inner Beauty Creates Outer Beauty”, pretty much sums up the premise of the book, and he goes on to list those raw foods that help one become more beautiful. His list of the primary beautifying raw foods are:

Aloe Vera, Arugula, Burdock Root, Coconuts and Coconut Oil, Cucumbers, Hemp Seed, Macadamia Nuts, Nettles, Olives and Stone Crushed Olive Oil, Onions, Papaya, Pumpkin Seeds, Turmeric, and Watercress.

Beautiful Women Doing Yoga

Searching for Tibetan Yoga practices on YouTube, I came upon a video that piqued my interest. It’s not the kind of yoga video I was looking for, and I immediately asked myself, “What kind of yoga video is this?”
