Twitter Tuesday: “No God” and “Know Peace”
Tuesday, 20th October 2009
No God. Know Peace.
Some interesting trending topics on Twitter Tuesday.
Right now the number one trending topic is “No God”.
It’s interesting because it stirs up once again the whole debate about whether God exists or not, between atheists and believers. Read more
The World All a-Twitter: Friday Update

Meghan McCain’s TwitPic Causes Uproar!
Okay John McCain’s daughter posts a photo on Twitpic that raises a lot of eyebrows. Seriously, this isn’t as big a deal as what people are making it out to be. I mean, we could learn a thing or two from the Europeans. We Americans are such a sexually repressed lot. So, the woman has boobies. Read more

Miley Cyrus Deletes Her Twitter Account.
The “Hannah Montana” star has deleted her popular Twitter account on Thursday, leaving her more than 1.1 million followers puzzled over her abrupt exit.
Well, apparently Miley has more important things to do than to Twitter.
SnapPixel Lets You Share, Sell Photos
Snapixel is a relatively new photo sharing service combined with a straight-forward buying and selling platform for stock photography. It’s almost like Flickr got married to iStockphoto and they had a love child!
This is cool! An alternative to Flickr, and you can sell your photos from the site.
FTC Blogging Rules Draw Online Protests
Slate.com’s Jack Shafer has called the rules, which take effect on December 1 and promise fines of up to $11,000, “The FTC’s Mad Power Grab.” Law professor Eric Goldman thinks the FTC rules conflict with a 1996 federal law, and DailyFinance.com’s headline says “the FTC’s truth in blogging guidelines are truly terrible.” Reason’s Tim Cavanaugh, to his credit, noted the problems with the FTC rules on the day they were announced, and the always-insightful Walter Olson at Overlawyered.com believes the rules are far too broad.
In my humble opinion, I’m just wondering why the FTC is suddenly targeting bloggers? I wouldn’t mind disclosing free items that I received and reviewed, and many of the pay-per-post programs want you to mention that a blog post is “sponsored” or “paid”. I just getting a bad feeling about this whole thing. And fines up to $11,000?
Facebook’s Gross National Happiness Movement
This graph represents how “happy” the nation is doing from day to day, by looking at how many positive and negative words people are using when they update their status: When people are using more positive words (or fewer negative words) in their status updates than usual, that day is happier than usual!
This news is a bit old, I know, but I think worth mentioning in case you missed it. This graph charts users “positivity” and “negativity” on a daily basis and shows which days, holidays, etc show Facebook users’ happier days, as well as the sadder ones.
Elizabeth Taylor on Twitter: ‘Ticker’ Surgery Went ‘Perfectly’
“Dear Friends, My heart procedure went off perfectly. It’s like having a brand new ticker. Thank you for your prayers and good wishes. I know they all helped. Love you, Elizabeth.”
Liz tweets that she had a successful surgery. God bless you, Liz!
Twitter On The Verge of Big Search Deals?
Are Microsoft and Google hoping to get into Twitter’s treasure trove of real-time information? Yes, says Kara Swisher of AllThingsD, citing sources who indicate that the two companies are separately in talks with Twitter about data licensing deals.
This would involve the exchange of several million dollars plus a revenue-share to “compensate Twitter for its huge and potentially valuable trove of real-time and content-sharing information, generated from the data stream of billions of tweets of its 54 million monthly users,” Swisher wrote.
This would be a good thing for Twitter, for sure!
Twitter Was Frozen Yesterday
You see, like most mornings, the first thing I check is Twitter. The problem this morning is that the most recent tweet was from 3 hours ago.
I confess I miss all the hoopla going on at Twitter yesterday morning, but I really was busy with RL stuff. I completely miss all the down time.
Twitter News: Wednesday Roundup
Wednesday, 7th October 2009
Lots of Twitter news this week, so I thought I’d post some notable tidbits I’ve been aware of, and share them with you.
Think Before You Tweet!
“TIMES are tough for the “tweet before you think” crowd.
Courtney Love was sued by a fashion designer after she posted a series of inflammatory tweets, one calling the designer a liar and a thief. A landlord in Chicago sued a tenant for $50,000 after she tweeted about her moldy apartment. And Demi Moore slapped back at Perez Hilton over a revealing photograph of the actress’s daughter.” Read more
